COVID-19: Intensifying the Existential Threat to the Caribbean

The Caribbean has experienced an overlapping and interconnected series of challenges, including economic, social, environmental, which pose existential threat to the region. This article focuses on nature this as it evolved before during pandemic crisis. Under neoliberal globalization, economies transformed themselves rapidly into service providers, most having resorted developing a tourism sector, while some moved oil production. In all cases, traditional agricultural exports declined with loss protected markets where they earned preferential prices. COVID-19 intensified Caribbean’s crisis revealed inextricable links among environment, economy, public health. these suggests way forward for policy in short, medium, long term.
